Isn't that always the way? (Vanity edition)

Remember that time I wrote about my favorite tinted lip balm being discontinued, and how crushing that was to my delicate, chapped-lip psyche, but how I finally found a replacement? It's been over three happy years since that post, and I now have Laura Mercier Hydratints in Berry and Crimson stashed in bags and drawers everywhere. Chances are any photo taken of me since that post involves me wearing one of those two colors.



A few key tubes - my work bag and desk drawer versions - were getting low, so I popped online to buy more and....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god. No really. Seriously. NO!

Hydratints are now discontinued, too.

I was way late on this news, apparently - I can't find stragglers anywhere. And to be honest, I can't really wrap my head around why I'm the only one who seems to love sheer lip color in chapstick-style tubes. You can apply them without looking in a mirror and know you look fine, and apply them in the middle of a work meeting full of men without feeling prissy. DONE.

Are there any replacement suggestions out there? Ugh, so annoyed. Excuse me while I shed a tear adding to my Discontinued Hall of Fame List:

    I use the Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm and it's pretty awesome! Tinted, moisturizing, and supposedly improves the natural coloring of your lips (mine are slightly more pink than they used to be).

    Well crap! That's frustrating. I like Clinique's Almost Lipstick for sheer lip color but it's not in a chapstick tube. I hope you find (another) good substitute before your current stash runs out.

      I was also going to suggest Clinique Almost Lipstick but Melissa beat me to the punch! Great minds, taking it back waaaaay old school (I think I bought my first tube of Black Honey in middle school...).

    Have you tried the Fresh Sugar lip treatments? I picked up trial sizes of a few colors, and really like them!

      I have! I have one and it's super-super sheer. I like a balm with more pigment. (I know, I'm my own worst enemy here.)

    i had totally forgotten about that kiehl's buffing cream!!! man. that was a treasure, gone too soon. why does everything have to happen to me?!?!?!

      I had one color that I didn't like, so I discounted the whole line, but you're right - I should check them out again!

    Same boat. Love a good tinted lip balm. I like the Fresh in Honey and another one you might want to try is Bare Minerals Jack of All Trades lip balm. Haven't found my perfect color with them yet but otherwise I like it!
