I need some good luck tonight. I'll spill the beans tomorrow, but tonight... I could use your happy thoughts. Which brings me to this giveaway. See, CSN Stores (purveyor of wall art and decor, many lovely cooking items that I covet, and much more) contacted me about doing another giveaway or a review, and for the first time, I really thought about reviewing a product for selfish purposes. Had one picked out and everything - I was going to get a spice grinder, for jobs that my mortar and pestle make too cumbersome and my mini-chop makes simply impossible. But I kept delaying posting the announcement. When it came down to it, I felt weird about being selfish and keeping something for my own use. Bad karma, or something.
We are a karmic/superstitious household in lots of ways. T was a hockey goalie - a very superstitious crew, it turns out. I want to imagine elaborate glove adjustments with all the "no, it's not OCD... it's just hot"-ness of Nomar Garciaparra, but padding and a mask make any sort of movement infinitely less hot than a baseball uniform (sorry T). But his superstitions have followed him - many of which make me laugh. Me, I follow the "pay it forward" rule of life, and take that seriously. Putting good things out into the world is a nice way to receive goodness in return, I figure. I enjoy kindness. I like hosting giveaways, buying presents, doing nice things. I won a huge Minted giveaway last fall and promptly gave it away to my brother and almost-sister-in-law. I've won CSN giveaways from other blogs in the past, and always used them to buy gifts. I donate as generously and as frequently as I can to causes that I believe in. Giving is better than receiving, in my head, especially when I could use a little smile from the universe.
So tonight, send me your best energy. And please do enter my CSN giveaway: a gracious $45 gift certificate from our host, good at any of their online stores, to use for anything you please.
Here's how you enter the giveaway: continue this conversation with me. How do you feel about karma? I'd love to know.
I'll take all karmic answers through the week, and look forward to your thoughts.

Oooh, good luck – can't wait to hear the details!!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a karma-believer! I like to send good thoughts to those close to me & hope everything works out just right.
ReplyDeleteSending good karma thoughts your way tonight!
I believe in karma. Do good things and good things come back to you.
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe in karma. I'm sending you good thoughts right now!
ReplyDeleteI send good thoughts out all the time to people. It also seems that the people I know who are selfish or negative tend to have negative experiences happen to them. Not sure if that is Karma or you get what you look for.
ReplyDeleteI believe in karma and I'm sending you lots of good vibes.
ReplyDeleteI want to believe in karma but honestly, I'm not sure. Regardless, doing good things for other people makes me happy. Maybe the good feeling you get from making others happy is proof of karma's existence? Okay, better stop before I get philosophical in a blog comment.
ReplyDeleteWishing you good luck and positive thoughts! I definitely believe in karma....I have always felt that we attract the same type of energy that we put out there in the world.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big "put it out into the universe and you shall get it back" kinda gal!

Good luck. Me too on the invisible levers of the universe. Not always karma, per se, but something in that realm.
ReplyDeleteI believe in karma, you should always treat others they way you would want to be treated.

I am honestly now sure how I feel about karma but I do feel that if one is good it makes your life feel better and it seems as if more good stuff happens to you.
ReplyDeleteLong time lurker...completely persuaded to step out in favor of karma talk. I absolutely believe in it and just last week had a great experience in the City of Pittsburgh audit department (how often do you hear that?) thanks to the kindness of an older woman who rides the same bus, who I've given my seat to many times. I know she's not personally responsible for the tax refund I walked out with, but I like to think that it certainly didn't hurt, and the world works in mysterious ways.
ReplyDeleteSending many good vibes your way!
What my dad always said: "What goes around, comes around". Karma relates to that comment to me.
ReplyDeletegood luck!! i'm not sure exactly how i feel about "karma" but i do feel like if you put good out, you'll get good back.
ReplyDeleteI think life is karmic: what goes around comes around.

thinking good thoughts!!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for you!!
ReplyDeleteOh good thoughts coming your way! I don't kill spiders because of kharma and that I love spiders.
ReplyDeletewe are definitely superstitious too. it's kind of embarrassing actually. and i also think the universe does some kind of score-keeping and tries to keep it even- which is like karma, i guess?
ReplyDeleteeither way, being nice is never a bad thing! especially in this city of no eye contact and what-can-you-do-for-me-ness.
lots of good thoughts for you!!
I completely believe in karma. Not in an exact literal way that one good deed comes back as a good deed for you... but that if you face the world in a happy and positive way your life will be better and happier because of the energy you are putting into the world.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, thanks for the giveaway! And from what I've heard those hockey men are incredibly superstitious. Let's just hope T doesn't start growing a mustache for good luck soon (unless he looks good in a 'stach-- then by all means let a gorgeous 'stach be grown!)!
I firmly believe in Karma, although I am more likely to call it comupins ("everyone will get their comup'ns one way or another!")...one time I saw a statistician give a lecture on why Karma is not a spiritual thing, but a simple equation based on 'Good Behavior x Healthy Population = Happy Economy' blah blah blah...very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am also very superstitious. If I'm anxious/need something good to happen, I will specifically take a cab that day so I can over-tip the cabdriver. Hasn't failed me yet. Karma baby!
Sending good thoughts your way!!!!
One of my favorite things to do is pay it forward with coupons. I clip anything that looks like a possibility to me, and then I head to the store. When I'm wandering the aisles, I leave them next to the products I don't actually want to buy. My husband thinks I'm crazy but I know it makes someone's day. I mean, benefiting from a coupon without having to search for it? What's not to love?
ReplyDeleteI totally believe in karma! I think how you treat others is how you will be treated in return. Its all about sharing energy.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in luck but in a way I believe in karma. I believe you MAKE your own luck based on your deeds but not in some next life but right now, in the present. You make your choices, to be happy or frowney today, to help someone else (which will make you feel good) or to belittle and pester everyone around you (which will just make you feel worse).
ReplyDeleteI believe in Karma...what you put out in the world is what will come back to you. I also think we can get stuck in a Karmic patterns, but can make a choice to break free of it.

I don't have profound examples or interesting stories to back up my beliefs, but I do believe in karma. So I let cars in front of me in traffic and help people carry things when their arms are full. I don't let it run my life, but I think its more than just the universe will pay you back for what you do... doing good things makes you feel good.
ReplyDeleteI am a big believer in karma. When things are not so great in my life I love doing small things for others. Things surprisingly turn around quickly!
ReplyDeletedont know what to think about karma- did it work for you this time?
ReplyDeletetcogbill at live dot com
I believe in karma-- and just generally, "do unto others..." I'm sending you and your house hunt good vibes!

I've always lived by the motto that you get back what you put out there. Hope things work out for you.
ReplyDeleteI always treat others the way I want to be treated and I think that my life is so much richer because of it. Good deeds beget good things...I remember one time I was in the process of a divorce and my ex was refusing to pay and I went to the bank to withdraw my last $18 to buy gas and milk for my sons and I and just happened to see an old friend in the parking lot. We started to talk and from that chance encounter, I ended up with a great job that really helped pay the bills. Karma...I like to think so. Another time I received a shut-off notice for the water and had no idea how I was going to pay it and happened to go to my mailbox and find an unexpected refund check from my mortgage escrow account. I can only think it's good begets good.

I think we've got a lot more control over what we do and what happens to us than what karma describes!

I'm a big believer in Karma. At the very least, doing good things effects you in good ways, and that can only lead to more good.
